Recycling has become a normal part of every day life now for many people in Calderdale and the fact that you’re visiting this website suggests that you are someone who is either already recycling, or someone who is interested in starting to recycle. Over the last 3 years recycling levels in Calderdale have risen by 50% with residents now recycling nearly 25% of all household waste.  That's a fantastic achievement, but our target for 2010 is to reach 40%.
  

Calderdale households currently produce some 90,000 tonnes of rubbish each year, the equivalent of 18 million bin bags - all of which end up in landfill. Considering over 60% of our household waste can be recycled, there's still more that we can do.
