Over the last 3 years recycling levels in Calderdale have risen by 50% with residents now recycling nearly 25% of all household waste. That's a fantastic achievement, but our target for 2010 is to reach 40%.
Calderdale households currently produce some 90,000 tonnes of rubbish each year, the equivalent of 18 million bin bags - all of which end up in landfill. Considering over 60% of our household waste can be recycled, there's still more that we can do.
