On Saturday 5th and 12th May Calderdale Council gave approximately 30 tonnes of local compost away to residents in Calderdale.
As part of Compost Awareness Week, Calderdale Council held two 'Big Heap' days in Todmorden and Halifax. Free compost was given to local residents produced at a local composting facility from the garden waste recycled at the five Household Waste Recycling Sites (formerly known as the tip) in Calderdale.
The days were a great success to help promote composting within the community, with about 750 cars visiting altogether.
