Recycling Rewards for Schools Success!

Congratulations to all schools who took part in this year's Recycling Rewards for Schools campaign. We have now collected nearly 22,000 Pledges from householders in Calderdale, which makes up a quarter of the total households.

The scheme aims to encourage local residents to recycle as much of their household waste as they can. For this, pupils at primary schools in Calderdale have been asking family and friends to sign a Pledge to recycle their household waste.

Schools are then awarded points based on how many Pledges their school has achieved, and how much waste is recycled in Calderdale. These points can then be exchanged for equipment for the school like musical instruments, books and computer software.

The scheme has been a great success in involving children to encourage their family and friends to recycle their waste. By doing so, they have earned some great rewards for their school, as well as increasing recycling in Calderdale.
