Recycling It all adds up

Recycling It all adds up

A BIG THANK YOU!

In the year 2010/2011 Calderdale residents were the leading recyclers in West Yorkshire with 41% recycling - Thank you.

However, we still spent an estimated £500,000 on waste that was landfilled but could have been recycled instead by putting it into the recycling containers that we provide. So please recycle all that you can.

Important improvements, please read
To help boost our recycling levels further, from 5th December we'll collect all recycling every week. That's glass, cans, paper, food waste, plastic bottles and textiles. Just leave it all out where your property meets the highway by 7 am on collection day.
None-recyclable Waste
Non-recyclable waste Will continue to be collected every two weeks. Once you've recycled all that you can, the rest goes in your wheelie bin. The lid must be fully closed with no extra waste at the side. Please leave your wheeliebin at the edge of your property, where it meets the highway, by 7 am on collection day and return it to your storage point as soon as possible after emptying.

If you don't have a wheeliebin we'll take a maximum of 5 standard issue sacks from your storage point each collection. If you are struggling with your waste, need help, advice or have any questions, please visit: www.recycleforcalderdale.org

Messy Chrismas
Christmas will soon be here and we're already thinking about your festive waste. We all create lots of waste over the festive season, from wrapping paper and boxes to food waste, bottles and cans. Not to mention all the things that get replaced by your new presents.

Please use your recycling bags, boxes and food caddies for all your Christmas waste, so your bin gets a holiday too.

You can even recycle your real Christmas Tree. Just take it to one of the drop off points below during January 2012 and it will be turned into mulch for the District's parks and gardens. Don't forget to remove all decorations.

Ogden Water Nature Reserve, Keighley Road, Halifax; Healthy rooted trees will be replanted in the woodland. Other trees will be used to form part of the habitat fencing around the water's edge, as featured on the BBC Countryfile programme last Christmas!

Wellholme Park, Overflow car park, Thornhills Beck Lane, Brighouse (please note this is a change to previous years)

Manor Heath Park, Manor Heath Road, Halifax

Hullen Edge Park, Recreation Lane, Off Victoria Road, Ellandchristmas tree

Centre Vale sports centre car park, Ewood Road, Todmorden
